A quick win for today is to sort though your potatoes. If you have any that have turned to mush, today is the day to toss them. What is the best way to store potatoes? Here are some simple do’s and don’ts to follow.

Do

Keep potatoes in a cool place.

Keep potatoes in a dark place.

Store them in a basket, bowl, or paper bag for ventilation.

Check the potatoes and discard any that are spouted, soft, or shriveled.

Don’t

Keep them in a plastic bag, they need air circulation to stay fresh.

Store potatoes on the refrigerator, it’s to warm.

Keep potatoes near other fruits and veggies like onions, bananas, or apples, they produce ethylene gas which can accelerate ripening/spoilage.
