If you are wondering “how to declutter my clothes?” here are the steps you can take on #NationalSecondHandWardrobeDay. Pare down to what you wear and love, then share the rest – which means others can add to their secondhand wardrobe with your pieces. Here are the simple steps to follow:
Step 1 Set up sorting boxes, one for SELL (if you will sell things) and DONATION.
Step 2 Start on the top shelf or the floor or the way back. Sort the stuff grouping like with like.
Step 3 Once you can see how many you have in each category, choose the keepers. Instead of looking for what to part with, pick the stuff you can’t live without.
Step 4 Return the keepers to the closet.
Step 5 Get the “tosses” out the door as quickly as possible.
Keep it or toss it? Questions to ask:
- Do I love it?
- Do I wear it?
- Is it flattering?
- Does it itch or scratch?
- Is it stained?
- Does it fit?
- Would someone else get more use out of this? *This is my favorite question to ask. And if I have to ask it, the answer is almost always yes!
